Walk It Out

Many of us walk every single day moving to and fro: during work, to the bathroom, in a coffee shop, to your car. But walking can actually be used as a source of exercise. It is becoming more apparent that the simple act of walking can have huge health benefits.

Adding just 30 minutes of walking a day can be a great form of exercise for those who can’t make it to the gym or an additional health benefit to anyone who is able to get up and go! Some of the benefits to walking each day are as follows:

– It’s easy on your joints

– It lowers your blood sugar

– It strengthens your muscles

– It increases your endurance

– It burns calories

It’s the easiest work out in the world! Grab a friend, your family, or your dog. Talk on your cell phone or grab a pair of headphones and hit the road. Go in the morning before work or after dinner at night- anytime of the day is the best time of day to get some exercise in. Make this small change and see huge results!

  1. Walking is my choice of exercise every day, or as many days a week as I can. In fact, I just got back from a walk with a friend. Great way to start the day :). Great blog!

  2. I love walking as an exercise. It is easy on your body and the benefits are amazing. Walking can help prevent things like osteoporosis and coronary heart disease, as well as help improve blood pressure and blood sugar levels like you mentioned above. One of my favorite fun facts about walking is that by adding 150 minutes of walking per week (that’s a 30 minute walk 5 days a week) you can add a little over 3 years to your lifespan. Wow! Thank you for sharing this blog post.
